Before we sat down, before we Gave Thanks, Sweetpea headed for the CD shelf---she's been picking out Joe Cocker's Feelin' All Right since before she could walk. Everybody grabs a napkin from the table, unless you're really anxious to hit the floor---then grabbing a bib will do. Then there was another moment:
(She climbed up in her chair, put on her bib, and while we got the food on the table, we looked over and there she sat. It probably speaks volumes that out of all of us who grabbed our spoons and tried it, only her Daddy could do it). I plead the excuse that I'm just inept, plus I was hee-hawing too loud to try.
This is WAY late, this posting of our Thanksgiving Dinner, but if anyone's interested, I'll put up some pictures tomorrow. Believe, me---except for the Blessing, this was probably the only sane, serene moment of the day.
Oh she is just too cute, I know what you mean about the only peaceful moment of the day...lol..it was so hectic and wild at my house "I" didn't even manage to take a picture.
ReplyDeleteBut isn't that what the day is really for to get together and laugh and love and enjoy each others company.
I know you had a blessed day.
Molly
I've been waiting for the Thanksgiving pics! That girl is so sweet..must bring you all so many smiles and laughs!
ReplyDeleteIt's never too late to hear about gatherings at your house, Rachel ... and you know how much I love hearing "Sweetpea stories." She's a little doll, and I'll be back later for dinner!
ReplyDeleteKim and I would LOVE to see more on the holiday. And bless you for posting it this.... well anticipated.... after the event. I am using this as an example for She Who Must Be Obeyed to convince her that she should be documenting her Christmas preps and do a series of her own blog entries at WFHIT after all the smoke clears, even if the season will be mostly over.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Yes, yes, post more pictures! I never get tired of Sweetpea or your "gatherings." What a wonderful family to "know", even from afar!
ReplyDeleteI got a late start today, but I'm WORKIN' on it!
ReplyDeleteI have some sort of probably-Southern malady---have had it all my life---you know how you start out with energy and anticipation and really get into the thing, and then you get pulled into the thing in another direction?
I've never been able to dust a BOOKCASE without taking out book after book, flipping through for lovely moments or passages remembered, and this picture thing is probably ten times worse.
And living with a PURE-D Shutterbug---well, I'll just say that after the five hundredth snap my eyes glaze over and the whole page looks like little mosaic tiles, but I just can't QUITE make out the picture they form.
I've emptied the percolator and made another one, and other than a caff-buzz, I'm still mesmerized.
I've just been immersed in the Thanksgiving ones, and the TRIP ones, and all the decorating Caro's done, and even the step-by-step of the crumbling of the cornbread for the DRESSING, for Heaven's Sake!
Somebody get me into a program.
moire non,
It looks like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving..cozy and a grandbaby is the frosting on the cake of life..the chips in the cookie..the..the... :)
ReplyDeleteGood Lord, I am embarrassed! A day past the New Year (well, just barely - it's 12:24 AM - Jessie's driving back from ET-lanna tonight and I can't settle 'til I hear her come in)and I am just getting to December the 10th! I'll email with all the sorry details, but suffice to say that this is the first moment I've had in DAYS to sit down and do what I WANNA!
ReplyDeleteI love that dancing girl and you can post as late as you want. I might get to Christmas by Easter on Fresh Hell, if I'm lucky.
