HOW TO SPEND A RAINY DAY

BY SWEETPEA
I do not have this book, with Thing One and Thing Two, I have Ganner and Ganjin; we have to make do.

It’s been raining all day; it was muddy---I slid. So we stayed in the house, and here’s what we did:

DANCE MAKE MUSIC SING GO OUT AND GET INTRODUCED TO A FROG THAT GANNER SAVED FROM YESTERDAY’S LEAF PILES FLEE---SLIP IN MUD

GET CLEANED UP AND INTO SNOW WHITE DRESS

BROKE-YOLK SANDWICH FOR BREAKFAST WITH GANNER AND DANCE SOME MORE

VISIT WITH AUNT CARO UPSTAIRS DANCE WITH Mr. JOE BAKE COOKIES---BE SURE TO COVER EACH ONE COMPLETELY WITH SPRINKLES

COLD MILK AND WARM COOKIES FOR LUNCH

BUBBLE BATH---POUR CREAMY-FOAM TEA FROM POT TO CUPS TIL THE WATER GOT COOL FRESH TINKERBELL PAJAMAS WATCH FIFI GO UP FOR A NAP AT 12:30 READ GOODNIGHT MOON TO GANJIN TWICE

SLEEP WITH WINDOWS OPEN TO THE SOUND OF SOFT RAIN AND WINDCHIMES

WOKE TO WATCH AUNT CARO DIP TWO DOZEN BIG PRETZEL RODS INTO WHITE CHOCOLATE, THEN INTO A PRETTY MIXTURE OF PINK, ORANGE AND PEARL SPRINKLES, FOR THE PACKAGE TOMORROW FOR MY GEORGIA COUSINS

HAD JUICE,A SLICE OF TURKEY AND GRAPES FOR TEA WITH A LITTLE MADELEINE, THEN CHANGED INTO A SWANKY BURGUNDY VELVET-BODICE DRESS WITH A SHINY LONG SKIRT FROM THE COSTUME BOX, READY FOR MORE DANCING.

WHEN MOMMY CALLED AND SAID WE WERE GOING TO DINNER WITH FRIENDS, I LOOKED REALLY, REALLY NICE IN THAT DRESS AND SHIRT OVER JEANS AND MY FAVORITE PINK SHOES, WITH MY HAIR ALL UP LIKE CINDERELLA.

PS I'M NOT SHOUTING. I JUST MOSTLY WRITE WITH THESE BIG LETTERS SO FAR. BYE.

  2. Hello dear Rachel, I am sorry I missed a couple of your posts. Thankfully I am home again and glad of it! The show was fun and loooong and tiring, but 'good times' with two of my sisters was priceless.
I have posted some pics to share.

Sweetpea leads a very busy life. She is so loved and it just makes me smile to read about all of her activities. The wonderful thing is the sunshine she brings into your lives. A day in the life of Sweetpea was a darling read. I have had quite a few meetings with a frog and toads in my life. It might be a good post. Smile.

The pork butt makes me hungry just to look at it. Our grill is so rarely used and this makes me want to change that status right now. My hubs, unlike your Chris, hates to grill or do anything except 'eat' food. Sigh!

Your post about your blogging friends was so sweet. My sister lives in Lilburn, GA. Any connection?

It is storming bad here and the lights went out and came back on. Yikes. I am going to bed.
    Goodnight my dear blogging friend.
    Jeanne

  4. This sounds like a wonderful way to spend the day and I am certainly older than sweetpea. But, who cares how old I am -maybe I will just do it anyway!

  5. It just doesn't get much better than spending time with your little Sweetpea, does it? ... no matter what you do. What a sweet and beautiful world she is growing up in, Rachel.

  7. We had a really nice day, we did. And it WAS a busy one---I found myself sitting down from time to time, just grabbing coffee or tea and taking a moment to get my old bones in step with all that dancing and doing stuff.

Wish you ALL could have spent the day with us; it had that cozy damp-outside, warm-inside feel that a rainy Spring day SHOULD have, instead of the dreary pours of late.

And Mississippi Artist, if you're serious about duplicating our day, Chris says he'll FedEx you the frog.

Can we come stay, and then you come to us in the steamy heat when you want to escape the worst of summer?

  10. Sweetpea's post makes me wish that I'd spent more days like this with my OWN Sweetpea! One of the greatest blessings in life is living in the now and you are graced with this particular blessing, my friend!

And how I wish that Mr. Joe could see the effect of his song on your family. I think he would love it!

  11. And, oh, how blessed is sweetpea! Teaching her that music is not confined to one day or even one time of day...but is to be enjoyed whenever or wherever. This will help her to learn that music is to be enjoyed anytime.
