Yes, it is a timely question. Another friend asked me recently if I would give up alcohol or caffeine, and I nearly fainted. This reminds me of that. Though I might say cake if my life depended on it. Because of the frosting.
Except on rare occasions, I don't really have a sweet tooth.
But, if I have to choose. . .
Pecan pie.
Though I did have lovely piece of white cake the other day, with plenty of buttercream icing (not that Crisco stuff) and, mmmm, mmmm, mmmmm, toasted coconut pressed onto the sides. Crunchy, sweet, smooth, creamy--wonderful.
Two words for the pie, and two long, voluptuous sentences for the cake----hmmmmm. Methinks you may become a convert.
(And your pork chop request reminded me of a MANY-years-ago trip to the Picadilly in Memphis. We were all in line, sliding our trays past all the bounty, and DS#2, then about seven, sang out toward me back at the end of our group: "Mama, If I can get two dishes of the Brussels Sprouts, I won't get any dessert---OKAY?"
Lots of nodding and laughing from all the folks in line.

ReplyDeleteI'm with Nora Bee - cake, mainly because of the icing.
ReplyDeleteNot that I dislike pie, no indeed. I like pie fine - chocolate chess, pecan, lemon icebox, but. There's no icing. Yummy pastry, yes, but no icing.
Uh-Hunh, Y'all---I'm a caker as well. Any kind.
ReplyDeleteI like cake better than pie, in general, unless it's a fruit pie. Then I like it just as much. :)
ReplyDeleteProbably because I don't have much of a sweet tooth.
Wallaby Darned, Ondine! I thought I knew you better than that. C'mon---you gotta like chocolate!
ReplyDeleteHmmm. Can I have another pork chop, instead?
