Sis sent me this picture from her Family Wall, after reading my memories of Aunt Cilla and Uncle Jed, and, as Sis said Daddy would have said about the picture, she's "just about the prettiest thang you've ever seen."
Those shiny little shoes, and the dress, the Cupid's Bow lipstick---she still has a girl's side-part in that stylish bob, but the definite family brow and eyes---she's ours, all right.
And the lapel pin!! She was marvelous at styling an outfit even at that age.
Isn't she just as lovely as I said?
I'll bet everyone will be glad to see her! You know, that picture was probably taken in the middle of the depression. I think about the Waltons, only in Mississippi which somehow makes it worse in my mind. Talk about your Steel Magnolias!

What a darling picture! It's so nice to have such treasures from the past! :)

ReplyDeleteWow Rachel,I love Aunt Cilla's photo. I agree with your daddy, She is the prettiest thang. The pose alone shows sass and style. You are blessed with the most charming family history. We have that in common as well as many other things. Big smile here.

Sorry, Rachel, I fear it is not in my best interest to comment on the charms of 17 year old girls. But if I were to offer any observations, I would have speculated that her daddy needed to load the shotgun and aim low -- this young lady was destined to break a few hearts.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I always love old pictures and wonder if it was a special occasion what with the clothing and make up and perfect hair. Or was that just her layin' around in the grass outfit?
ReplyDeleteShe is lovely, and aren't these old photos priceless treasures?!♥
