AFTERMATH

We've heard from both sets of our VA friends, both via  Kim's Blog and through our comments page, and are SO glad to hear that only minor damage and some power outages amongst the families are reported.

I'm immensely thankful that the enormity of that storm did not have all the consequences it could have, and that our Dearies have come through safely.

  1. Bah, you can't get rid of us that easily. Earthquake, check. Tempest, check. Next, I think, would be locusts....

  2. Earth, Wind and Fire in Virginia this week!

Irene did not give us enough rain to put out the Great Dismal Swamp Fire that has been burning since Aug. 4.

She also did not give any relief to the Honey Prairie Fire in the Okefenokee Swamp, which has burned over 300,000 acres since April 30!

  3. Hi Rachel, yes, the LUSH store smelled so good. It is sold by the pound and very costly but I bought some but not a lot.

I too am glad the storm didn't get worse than we expected. I am thankful for the many family members and friends who came through alright. As well as the many who experienced the storm.

I adore your Wizard of OZ story. How precious to see it with Sweetpea for the fist time she saw the magic of it all. I LOVE that movie. I love the independent little girl that took herself to the movie way back then. You were brave.

We saw very few movies when we were growing up. Six children is a pretty big expense for a movie. I will say our parents gave us lots of wonderful experiences that didn't cost anything. Very often Sunday afternoon was an adventure in our home. Dad would get us all in the car and off we went to an adventure that he planned and it was always a surprise. He was a fun loving man and we were very lucky children. I believe your family is 'very lucky' to have you and Chris in their lives as well.

    Hugs, Jeanne

  5. Snicker. They are 90-100 miles inland and they got it worse than we did on the coast!

There's a LUSH store in DC, and I have been promised a trip there next time I hit that area. What fun!
