HUSH

"Our snow was not only shaken from white wash buckets down the sky, it came shawling out of the ground and swam and drifted out of the arms and hands and bodies of the trees; snow grew overnight on the roofs of the houses like a pure and grandfather moss, minutely-ivied the walls and settled on the postman, opening the gate, like a dumb, numb thunder-storm of white, torn Christmas cards."       Dylan Thomas

  1. Just magical and befitting a December day. We here are in the thick of rain, rain, rain. Shalln't complain too much as it is desperately needed after the parched summer we've had.

Wrap up well, stay warm, and put the fire on.

  3. So much snow! Snow makes a dreary landscape magical. But I'm glad we don't have any yet. Just flurries. The cold is bad enough.

  4. Your snow covered trees are gorgeous.
Winter is my favorite season and one of its beauties is the snow covered trees, oh so beautiful and refreshing.
We were hit with a huge storm last night waking up to 10 inches of snow.
Thankfully we have a bobcat to help dig us out.
So nice to visor with you this evening.

    Joy to you~~

  10. My dear Rachel,

Such beautiful snow-covered images and the words from Dylan Thomas are just as beautiful and sublime. Although it has been bitterly cold here in this part of the world, we do not think that we shall be blessed with a white Christmas this year. Snow is a symbol of innocence and purity. Even in the busiest cities, after a snowfall, everything goes quiet even if it is for a brief moment. It has a natural ability to calm and cleanse our surroundings. It is a great pleasure to me to love nature and to love poetry since both nature and poetry has given me extra resistance to survive many frosts and storms.

It's been a great privilege to share with you my love for nature, art, poetry and literature this year. I am so glad that our paths have crossed and the presence of your warm-hearted sensibility, witticism, your loving heart and kindness is a constant pleasure and delight to so many of your readers.

I wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and a wonderful new year. May your hearts be warm and full of joy and love as possible!

    With best wishes, ASD

  13. Such pretty pictures. I do love to look at pictures of snow...but I don't love stepping outside in it. We're sitting in the single digits now, for a while, with snow on the ground. I'm a summer girl and I can't wait for it's return! Happy New Year, dear friend!
