IT IS A TRUTH . . .

Sometimes, I stumble onto a blog with such a special post that I want to share it with everybody.  And when it’s on a subject I enjoy, that’s lagniappe.

A Jane Austen tea, all by one lady in her home---all in blue and white, with such exquisite attention to detail, such well-thought-out touches and settings and linens and flowers, that it’s a visual feast in itself.   A charming bonnet, tea trays and silver, a set of quills to hand---all portray another time, another era, with such gentle grace that you're compelled to step in.

And each appointment of that magical table---the menu cards and chocolate boxes and the dainty-folded fans, with a nod to a small token of courtship in the delicately-cut silhouette card at each place setting---elegant beyond words.

It must have taken months to bring into being that afternoon of sumptuous delight.   Wouldn’t you love to have been present for such a splendid affair?

Miss Jane could have written volumes about such a magnificent soiree.

  2. Sounds like a tea that I would love to be invited to. We have seen the movie Austenland - with Kerri Russell - so funny - she goes to England to live like they did in Jane Austen's day.
I must go and visit her tea!

  3. Hello dear Rachel, I am so happy to have a moment to sit down to my computer for a bit. You are the first Blog I have visited in an age. At least it seems like an age. Sigh! Our guests have gone to the cabin for a rest.

I will visit the tea sensation in a moment. If you recommend it I know it will be lovely.

I quickly scrolled down to see what I have missed but I must go forward or I will drown in the many friends I have neglected.

Love you much and thank you for the sweet comment. I had a chuckle over your comment as I so often do. I admit to being a sleepwear snob. LOL.

Our trip is still as far away as the month of October but with the last of our company coming to a close I have Packing on my mind. Also, thinking about what to take with the limits on luggage being so strict these days. Air France is far worse than Delta and out last leg of our trip is on Air France. A challenge for sure.

Wishing you fair weather and cooler days and nights. Have a wonderful time with your sister.
    xoxo,
    Jeanne

  4. Rachel, thank you so much for visiting me and for the lovely comment you left. I love tea parties. I have been to only one which my neighbors and I all contributed to. Five of us decided we would like to do tea. One neighbor opened her home, set a lovely table and made the tea. Myself and the three others brought sandwiches and cakes. We all wore hats and used our best manners. It was wonderful. Two of the ladies have since passed on, but I remember that time very fondly. I should do something like that again.
